Relapsed after 10 years. diagnosed panic disorder/anxiety/gad. was on cymbalta 60mg for long. switched to exsira 50mg. seeked 2nd opinion. i am told effexor sr is better suited as exsira is activating and more for depression. is this true?

SSNRI's: Sorry that we cannot provide second opinions via the general Health Tap information site. Both Cymbalta (duloxetine) and Exsira /Khedezla/ Pristiq (Desvenlafaxine) are selective serotonin and norepinephrine / noradrenalin reuptake inhibitor antidepressants (SSNRI). They work similarly. Both can be used for anxiety disorders.

Not true: Effexor is FDA-approved for major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder and panic disorder. Exsira is only FDA-approved for major depressive disorder. However, Effexor and Exsira are essentially work the same way in the body. The active ingredient Effexor is converted into the active ingredient Exsira in the body.
