Not necessarily, your gastroenterologist only felt that the test mentioned would not add actionable and/or related to your symptoms information. Follow up in the office is always critical in order to have a clear plan going forward.

Incidental 1.5 CM liver lesion found on us & MRI (not on ct) radiologist favors benign dx; however, gastro dr now wants liver-spleen scan, cea, AFP & ca 19-9. Why? No history of ca, hep or cirrhosis.
A few liver cysts have been found on my MRI. Does this mean I have a specific disease? Will these multiply over time? Is there a test to check for infection?
I'm still worried and convinced I have end stage liver disease despite having two normal fibroscan readings and a contrast MRI? Freaking out daily.
Is an MRI or CT scan better for looking at liver disease?
If a CT scan discovered a liver lesion but couldnt state whether benign or cancer, ultrasound & MRI says suspicious for metastatic disease and PET scan says no evidence of FDG uptake, is the PET scan more accurate in its assessment? Biopsy needed?
