Gangrene: Diabetes affects blood vessel integrity. It also affects tissue healing. Anytime there is an open wound healing is a challenge. Sometimes healing is not successful and gangrene develops like in the toes etc...

Body's defense : This is your body's defense mechanism to wall off the infection and prevent it from spreading to the rest of the body. Never let a wound go unchecked to the point because this will mean some type of amputation at this point!
