The difference is that the urologists may be able to offer surgical options based on findings, while nephrologists focus on medical treatment of kidney related conditions. Your treating and referring GP would be best to prioritize consults based on actual context.

I would discuss with you regular Dr first. But if you have not seen a Urologist in the past and your Dr recommends I would do urologist first.... but this will also depend on what you kidney function is. Need more details.
