Is there any other way to have an endoscopy without going under general anesthesia?

With endoscopy you do not go under general anesthesia, you only receive medications for what we call "conscious sedation". If you do not receive this sedation it is very uncomfortable, especially for a thorough colonoscopy. Upper endoscopy and sigmoidoscopy can be done without conscious sedation.
