I get small hard lumps on the base of my skull. they are sore to the touch, and they are really hard. they look just like regular skin, no redness. they typically last a week at a time and i get them very often. any help?

If those are located at the hairline they are likely reactive lymph nodes. Lymph nodes are always there but much smaller but they get bigger and tender when you have a viral infection or scalp infection. No treatment is required.
