The pap test was developed for early detection of cervical cancer long before a link to some strains of HPV was known. They are linked to most, but not all cases of cervical cancer. You can still develop the cancer without any exposure to any STD. If you avoid the test you take a risk. Life has choices and this is one you can make on your own.

Agree with Dr. Ferguson. HPV is only one cause of cervical cancer. Get PAP smears as advised by your doctor. You can reduce your risk of cancer by adopting healthy habits: Eat a mostly vegetarian diet, avoid alcohol, tobacco and street drugs, avoid excessive exposure to sun, get HPV vaccine, exercise 30 minutes each day, drink enough water so your urine is mostly colorless.
