I answered your other question. You stated that you were prescribed pain med and antibiotics for colitis. What kind of pain med was prescribed? An antispasmodic medication may be helpful.

There are many types of colitis and proper treatment for some is needed. Bowel rest is always helping to some extent allowing time for the bowel to heal. Hydration and nutrition remain critical in the mean time many times in the inpatient setting they are secured through iv infusions. Symptom control, including pain and cramps is needed when symptoms are significant.
