A member asked:

I just felt for my iud strings and i think i felt them in my tissue in ny vagina would i know if it came out or perforated my uterus?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Generally, if the strings have been left long enough by the installation of the IUD, they can be felt digitally in the vagina. If the IUD were expelled by uterine contractions, it is a possible sign the IUD moved into the cervical canal, with bleeding and pain. If uterine perforation occurs, usually during installation, the strings are pulled into the uterine cavity and are not "felt".
