A member asked:

Why did my vaginal cultural come back as group b when i was treated for or during labor in february? i had an iud placed and removed in march after it embedded in my uterus. since then i have gotten a thick yellow/white discharge. what else could it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Group B strep is a common germ in the digestive tract and is not removed from there by common oral antibiotics. As many as 1/3 of women will have GBS in vaginal samples intermittently. Your OBGYN would be in a better position (knowing all the data) to comment on why you have a discharge. I would hope other tests were done.
