A member asked:

My husband has been on 50mg of sertraline daily for about a year. we are thinking of trying for another baby but i read that the medication can affect sperm quality and lead to defects. is this true? if so, how long should he be off it before we try?

Sertraline (Zoloft) is considered safe in pregnancy at this point, and no birth defects have been found to be statistically related to taking antidepresants. Best is to have a current sperm analysis by a urologist prior to attempts at conception.

It should not affect fertility. But if you are worried then wait till about (0 days after stopping the medicine. Good luck
