I have been taking zoloft (sertraline) 50mg for 2 weeks on top of methadone 80mg (1 year). i get really sleepy in the afternoon. is it safe? i've read bad things.

Your doctor and the: Methadone program need to know about each other, and if not, make sure they do right away. Zoloft (sertraline), (sertraline) like all SSRIs, has the potential to be sedating, plus it can (although usually in higher doses) reduce metabolism of Methadone so that the blood levels go higher. Talk to the nurse at your program (or your pain doctor) to see if your Methadone dose needs a bit of lowering. Zoloft (sertraline) is a very safe drug
