If your dad does not want surgery and prefer radiation therapy, he will be referred to a radiation oncologist who will discuss the radiation modalities so your dad can decide. Rad oncologist does not prescribe pills unless your dad wants radiation tx but oncologist wants to shrink the prostate first with hormon tx. Prostate cancer Gleason score 7 should be treated and your dad decides the Rx type.

This type of situation is treated either by surgery or radiation depending on the condition and choice of pt and doctor. If radiation is chosen then adding Casodex and Lupron is reasonable. Pl ask the radiologist to explain his treatment so both you and your dad can understand his rationale
