A member asked:

Had covid 21 days ago, and today i had really bad stomach ache. idk if it was something i ate or what but i had a lot of diarrhea. during it, i noticed 2 small dots of blood in the toilet. is that related to covid or is it something serious at all?

This event is unlikely related to the recent Covid-19 infection. Food poisoning doesn't cause blood in stool & 2 small dots of blood is not consistent with infectious diarrhea (mixed blood & blood). If the rectal mucosa is sensitive with the diarrhea stool, the mucous membrane is friable and limited bleeding may occur. Just watch the sx for now, urgent care if high temp. occurs or pain gets worse.

Abdominal ache accompanied by diarrhea could have been an intolerance of something you ate or the beginning of a viral intestinal tract infection not necessarily related to covid. 2 tiny dots of fresh appearing blood doesn't appear serious& most likely came from anal irritation or even a hemorrhoid. For now I recommend drinking adequate room temperature fluids & eat a soft, bland diet. See MD as n
