Depends on how you feel, how bad it is and what is causing it. Thyroid problems can range from really mild to very severe. In general, symptoms are controlled with a medicine called propranolol, and the overactive thyroid is controlled with either methimazole (Tapazole) or propylthiouracil (PTU). But that all depends on the individual. For some, no treatment is needed, others need more treatment.
