A bruise after an intramuscular injection is not abnormal, It can take a while for it to completely heal. Eight days seems a little long but when exactly did the bruise appear in relation to the tetanus shot? Is the bruise turning greenish/yellowish and decreasing in size-all signs it is healing? Did you have any other injury to the area after the tetanus shot? If concerned, see your doctor.

This is likely a booster dose for you and the bruise probably reflect the reaction of your existing antibodies with the newly delivered toxoid. If it is getting better, let time heal the lesion.
