How many mg of prednisone can i take for inflammation/muscle spasms occurring below shoulder blade and for how long? heat/ice, massage is not helping a lot and i have some left over 20mg prednisone from a previous prescription?

It is not prudent to self medicate with Prednisone. You may not need such a strong medication. It would be prudent to see a doctor to ascertain the cause of your symptoms and an appropriate treatment.

Prednisone will not help muscle spasms. Muscles do not develop localized inflammation that responds to prednisone. It is generally reserved for autoimmune generalized muscle conditions such as polymyositis.
