A member asked:

What would make doctors test for hiv/aids? is there specific symptoms? i understand swollen lymph nodes, fever, sweats, chills, and high glucose can be indicators, but are there other reasons that would prompt a test? any other symptoms??

Reviewing all the indications for HIV testing would take far more than the 400 characters I'm allowed. If you tell us the specific symptoms you are referring to, and any other relevant circumstances, we might be able to give you a reasonable answer.

Testing for HIV should be routine and no symptoms are needed for doctor to test a person. It is important to screen for treatable diseases that can cause serious harm if not detected. It is no different than getting PAP tests even though you have no symptoms.

History of exposure and in cases other diagnosis cannot be made with such symptoms. Hiv is not symptom specific.
