I am currently on subutex. 4mg, recently had my gallbladder removed, its been about 12 hours since last time i took subutex. can i take hydrocodone or oxycodone for the pain? or will the the subutex still block it?

A pharmacologist can answer your question best, but it is my understanding that for elective surgical procedures, it is customary to taper a patient off meds like subutex for 2-4 weeks ( depending upon dose) before the surgery so that opiod pain relievers won't be blocked postoperatively. The effect of a small dose of opioids will be decreased by the subutex but not very high doses.
