For pain: Lortab is a common for pain. After your laparoscopic or open gallbladder removal your surgeon wanted to give you the option for pain control. If you are not experiencing pain you don't have to take it. The pain score of 1 is no pain and 10 is the highest you imagine, then try to stay at 4 or less.

Post-op pain: Usually patient's will require some type of analesic's post-operatively. It is very common for surgeon's to prescribe this type of medication (trade name is vicodin), containing an opioid and Acetaminophen (tylenol). Typically, the need for such medication is of limited duration and very safe when properly utilized and supervised.
