How painful is a lower face lift and neck lift?

Very little: Surprisingly face lift which includes full neck lifting is a relatively painless procedure. There are no heavy narcotics given and those analgesics given are generally only for the first several days.

Mild discomfort: After face and neck lift, most patients complain of a soreness and stiffness of their necks. The face is generally not painful, but instead variable numbness is present for 2- 8 weeks or longer. If properly performed, a facelift is an excellent way to rejuvenate the face. Discuss your goals with a board certified facial plastic or plastic surgeon.

Not very: Pain is usually minimal for lower facelift and neck lift. That is because the surgery mainly moves around skin and soft tissue and is not invasive into deep structures.

Not very!: Barring complications, most of my patients are pleasantly surprised how non-painful the recovery from a facelift or necklift actually is. Usually bruising is minimal, as well. Significant pain is usually a sign of a complication, like a hematoma (bleeding) or infection - and should be investigated.

Mild to moderate: Most patients are pleasantly surprised how little pain they have after a facelift. Pain is a warning sign of a fluid collection under the skin which is uncommon. Therefore, most patients experience very little pain.

Minimal pain: Face and neck lifts are generally painless. Pain is a sign that something may be wrong. You will mostly feel swollen and some stiffness.

Most of my: Patients require pain meds less than 3 days! minimally painful.

Almost no pain: Most facelift and neck lift patients do not complain of pain. The most common complaint is swelling, bruising, and tightness.

Facelift Discomfort: Most facelifts patients experience mild to moderate discomfort easily managed by pain pills if required. The reason for this is that most of the surgical areas are numb initially and when the sensation returns you are already healed. The most common complaints are initial tightness, and swelling.

Face and necklift: Pain after surgery is a variable experience. Be sure to follow your surgeon's postop instructions.

Mild: Very mild. Covered nicely with pain meds. For best results, seek treatment by a board certified facial plastic surgeon.

Generally: pain is low and controlled by Non-opioid analgesic. Make sure to seek a surgeon with extensive experience and training in cosmetic surgery of the face

Minimal discomfort: Contrary to what it may seem with having incisions made around your ear, patients rarely complain of significant pain after face lifting procedures- the primary complaint is the feeling of fullness from the swelling and feeling unnaturally tight for the first few days.
