Should i be worried about heart palpitations? onset has been acute and has lasted 7 weeks. it feels like my heart stops for a second and then it speeds up. my personal ekg machine shows normal rhythm but every 100 beats a downward spike?

You may be observing a premature heart beat every hundred otherwise normal beats. These are usually benign atrial or ventricular premature beats. Wearing an outpatient heart monitor for 24-48 hours can document these. They can be caused by stress,caffeine or alcohol but may have no obvious cause. Suspect the downward spike is and abnormally conducted beat and the next beat may be more intense-forcefull.
