Probably held some gym equipment too tightly or strained some muscles and tendons in the hands. Icing /Resting and limiting use for a few days can help. And when one resumes exercising, take it slowly and gradually build up the muscles, tendon and joints. If numbness continues a visit to PCP or neurologist might be appropriate.

A possible explanation would be carpal tunnel syndrome. It is possible that you aggravated the median nerve at the wrist during your workout. It is quite likely that this will persist unless properly tended to. If present for more than a week, please see your doctor.

Might be due to inflammation at the wrist causing synovitis resulting in carpal tunnel symptoms. Nocturnal wrist splints may help
