Hands: It could be joints, nerves, ligaments, tendons, bones...Nerve irritation such as carpal tunnel syndrome at the wrist can give rise to hand pain, but so can arthritis (any type), tendonitis, bone injury, etc.

Sure it can : "hand pain" can be caused by a long list of things, some of which can be serious. When in slight doubt or slightly concerned, its always safer to see the doctor for an exam. Early treatment is better than late treatment.
