We have a newborn (5 days old). are there any developmental or other issues associated with occasionally watching a movie or television with the volume low while he sleeps nearby? he doesnt seem phased, but we wanted to understand. thanks?

Watching? Hearing spoken language in any form eventually contributes to their speech & language skills. I don't see a problem with this exposure.

Congratulations! So early on, you will be spending the majority of your time with your baby. Talking and playing are ideal, but parents watching TV from time to time should not pose a problem. Binge watching series after series would be a problem. Baby is learning and experiencing everything. Make sure it is good.
