Sucralfate does not protect your esophagus or prevent acid reflux; its action is to coat your stomach lining. The most effective way to protect your upper GI tract is alcohol abstinence if alcohol causes your stomach or esophagus problems, take care.

Absolutely fine is so prescribed by your doc. Sucralfate has a different mechanism of action and may interfere with absorption of other drugs, constipation relatively common side effect.
