A member asked:

Is drinking too much water with meals bad for acid reflux patients as there is more liquid to come back up the esophogus? i have acid reflux and esophogael diverticulum and have been advised to drink lots of water with meals?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Drinking a reasonable amount of water should help dilute acids, liquefy your foods and be absorbed more quickly than solids. People have been know to overdo anything, so I suppose you could drink enough water to cause a problem, so don’t do that.
