Diagnosed with cdif 7 mos ago. started rifaximin 6 days ago, diarrhea relief was within a day & more immediate than past antibiotics. but now, day 5 & 6 i have watery diarrhea. rifaximin side effect, can it still be effective against cdif?

I haven't had any experience with rifaximin but it's considered effective for treating c diff. Since watery diarrhea occurred after day 5 of treatment, I recommend contacting your prescribing physician and notifying him/her about the watery diarrhea. A repeat culture may be ordered. After multiple movements ask if an antidiarrhea medication would be ok. Drink lots of fluids to combat dehydration
