The two primary causes of diarrhea while traveling are bacteria (which would have been susceptible to Rifaximin) or Giardia which requires a different mediction called metronidazole. Either one is caused by ingestion of fecal contaminants due to either food contamination during preparation or by eating with unwashed hands. See a Dr for a prescription. Wash hands frequently.
