Gastroenteritis: Your diarrhea maybe viral in origin and xifaxan (rifaximin) only works in bacterial infection usually caused by e colistay on a bland diet and try using probiotics.

Can xifaxan (rifaximin) & probiotics cause your stool to smell "chemically"? It almost smells like motor oil. Stool looks brownish/orange. No visible blood. Stool culture/o&p = neg.
I've been having dull gallbladder pain lasting 24 hours with few breaks in between, it gets worse after I eat (although I've been nauseous) and my stool has been loose and orange. I did get diagnosed with gallstones but could this be a blockage?
Can you smell occult blood in stool? Stools smell like plastic or motor oil. No visible blood. Stools are brown to orange-y. O&p, stool culture = neg. Abd xray normal. Blood work = normal.
I am having loose stools with undigested food. I have a 1.3cm gallstone and have had two attacks this week. Also have a metallic taste in mouth.
