I have been having sharp shooting pains up my head left side behind ear. comes about every 15 to 20 seconds.can't sleep at night seems to be getting worse.. started with a stiff neck and couldn't turn my head without pain.that is better?

Described location suggests Greater or Lesser Occipital Neuralgia, and likely nerve was initially irritated at base of skull (occipital condyle). Should respond and come under control with appropriate medications. Start with your primary doctor, but see neurologist if necessary.
