B. While you might be perfectly right about acid reflux causing your symptoms, having your doc confirming it and addressing it will give you peace of mind. Lifestyle changes are much more important than drugs in reflux in the long run.

There are plenty---Zegrid, Nexium, Prilosec, Pepcid, Tagamet etc...even tums can help some people. However, bad breath (halitosis) is generally from overgrowth of certain bacteria in the mouth, especially the tongue, and not likely (much less likely) from reflux. So you may try to use these as a short trial, but seeing dentist or even use mouth wash maybe more beneficial. Good luck

You may wish to try famotidine (Pepcid) 20mg (over-the-counter) up to twice daily. Avoid all "proton pump inhibitors (PPIs)" such as omeprazole/Prilosec due to potential for serious side effects. The best antacid is Gaviscon (WalMart, Walgreens, CVS all have generic equivalents) chewable tablets, Pepto-Bismal (bismuth sulfate) liquid or chewable tabs (but may cause temporary black tongue/stool).
