Infectious disease):ive read somewhere that "augmentin can treat the same bacteria as amoxicillin." does that mean if a bacteria is susceptible to amoxicillin, its also susceptible to augmentin?

Yes, but not vice versa because Ampicillin is one component of Augmentin. Some bacteria resistant to Ampicillin can be treated with Augmentin.

Yes, as amoxicillin is the main antibiotic in augmentin ( contains also clavulanic acid), the statement cited should read as augmentin can treat same bacteria as amoxicillin and more as clavulanic acid extends its activity spectrum.
