Can you take 20 mg omeprazole 2times within a 24 hr period?

You can take it. It is usually it is once daily either 20mg or 40mg dose. If it is for H.Pylori treatment your doctor might have given it as twice daily along with antibiotic regimen. Limit use of omeprazole for shorter period of time unless it is prescribed by your doctor for longer period of time as it may associate with increased risk of osteoporosis(decreased bone strength)

Yes, sometimes used as 40 mg twice a day, most of the times recommended as once daily. Best would be to discuss it with your prescriber as to what the actual reason is, many times it has to do with rebound acidity.
