Will a bone biopsy show if i have breast cancer metastasis or rheumatism? i have both and dr. has not been able to give me a definitive answer. pet/ct is not definitive either. i need answers before treating?

Yes, a bone biopsy may provide further information about the bone lesion, PET will definitely help as well in suggesting the possible source for findings. Your oncologist remains your best reference in placing findings in proper context.

Bone biopsy is not a usual test for rheumatologic disorders. Metastatic lesions are focal. A positive finding is consulusive, but not detecting cancer in a biopsy does not exclude bone metastases.
