Snoring has nothing to do with diabetes, but it indicates possible risk for obstructive sleep apnea. Discuss with your doctor; or if s/he is unsure, ask for referral to a sleep specialist. Good luck.

The development of snoring at age 55 years may be a sign of changes in upper airway patency, and could be a sign of developing sleep apnea. Let your doctor know of this transition, as a sleep study could be of value.
