Osteoarthritis is primarily a destruction of the ends of the bones. The MRI that has been ordered is being used to assess soft tissue structures as an alternate source for your symptoms. Structures like the ligaments, tendons, muscles, cartilage, meniscus and the bone marrow are all further assessed with the MRI & could provide your doc with a source for symptoms that are not coming from bone.
