Tonsils are a type of immune tissue. When there is any kind of infection, they swell up with cells and antibodies, assisting your body in fighting off the infection. When cold weather sets in, many circulating common viruses cause infections such as cold and flu. There are also a few bacteria that can cause sore throats/infections. Have them checked if they don't go away in 1-2 weeks.
