A member asked:

My 11 year olds tonsils are a little swollen. she isn't sick. but it hurts her to swallow. what is this and how do you get rid of it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pharyngitis: If it persists would be best to have her seen by her physician. Majority of cases are viral in nature and need no treatment. You need to rule out strep throat, which can only be done with a test, which is the one cause that needs antibiotics.
