I had bell's palsy about 2 years ago and would like to get the covid-19 vaccine. would it be safe for me to get the vaccine?

Although Bell's palsy (one sided facial nerve palsy) has been reported with COVID-19 vaccination, a causal connection has not been statistically validated. Fortunately, the palsy will dissipate, and the benefits of the vaccine outweigh the risks associated, which also include muscle aches, fever and lethargy for 1-4 days.

The prior Bell's palsy was likely secondary to a herpes virus, and the COVID-19 vaccine has no viral particles, so should not reactivate your Bell's palsy. However, as Dr Berryman has correctly stated, rare cases of Bell's have followed vaccination. Still, get the jab, as you are better off being protected.
