Hi! i got a cbc test done and my lymphocytes relative were elevated at 52.9% with the normal being 20-44%, and my neutrophils relative were slightly low at 37.1% with the normal being 40-73%. everything else was normal. should i be worried?

You need to review the result with the Provider who ordered it to be certain, however the relative #s are percents, so add to 100% and for one to go up, another must go down. Lymphocytes are often elevated when the body is fighting off a viral infection ("cold," etc.).

When looking at cell counts, absolute values are being considered rather than percentages. In other words, if your absolute counts were normal, nothing to worry about. Your doc remains your best reference as having access to the clinical context in which you had your blood test.

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, it would have helped had you provided the total white cell count. Wish you good health!
