Majority of docs introduce themselves when they meet new patients and their families. There is no other license information they can provide, some may be board certified, others may not, it is illegal to practice without a state license. You can easily find license information accessing the medical state board on line and searching for respective name.

In the age of the Internet, it would make far more sense for you to confirm the Dr's name and then search the licensure board you are in IF that concerned. Most clinical settings verify the credetnials of their Providers, and most Providers do their best to keep all of their licenses current.

Almost all physicians post copies of their credentials in their offices. You can always verify it with the state department of health.
