Alcohol has many harmful effects on bone. It can reduce bone mass resulting in relatively weak adult bones, since it seems to directly inhibit the action of bone forming cells besides disrupting the hormonal regulation of calcium. .In animal studies they found that long term use of alcohol can affect the growth of bone cells at the growth plate , stunting growth.
