Acne is likely your condition, that can include upper back as well. Young adults are commonly affected. There are different types of acne and treatment is personalized based on appearance, previous results to therapy, etc. Antibiotics are many times used depending upon the type of acne. Your treating doc remains your best reference.

Agree with Dr. P. Tumor is unlikely, but infection of sebaceous glands is a potential explanation. The doctor who examined you is in a better position to treat you than is feasible in this forum. You should give the antibiotics a try. Wish you good health!
