Get another opinion from a DO or MD doctor, such as an osteopath or physiatrist. Stretching of SI joint is of limited value, but hip exercises can translate benefit. When up and about, wear an SI Belt, which can be found online, and is quite inexpensive. Swimming may help.

I strongly urge you to have an evaluation by an orthopaedic surgeon prior to ANY type of treatment. Unfortunately the chiropractors believe that ALL problems stem from a "subluxation of the spine", to include the SI joint. This is simply not true. You need a comprehensive physical examination by the orthopedist, along with the appropriate X-rays. You may also require a CAT scan or an MRI.
