A member asked:

I fractured my distal fibula 4 days ago, i was wondering when should the swelling start to go down and the tingling subside?

Fractures of the distal portion of the fibula are generally slower to heal, with disruption of surrounding muscle causing the swelling. Assuming that you had this fracture examined and treated by an orthopedic physician, call for an appointment for his/her assessment currently of the healing process.

Fractures can take 6-12 weeks to heal, depending on the location and type. Swelling will take 2-3 weeks to go down, ice and elevation is helpful.
