First, get diagnosed properly to rule out congenital structural anomalies, or arthritic issues, or disc problems. Later, physical therapy may be of great assistance, and McKenzie Back Exercises and/or swimming may be stabilizing. Be proactive, as the sooner you start, the sooner you will feel better.

Agree with Dr. Mechanic. Regular aerobic exercise will help by improving the strength and flexibility of your muscles. Any exercise will do. Start as tolerated and gradually increase the time and intensity so that you sweat freely. Aim to exercise at least 30 minutes a day. It may take up to three months to see the full benefit. Drink enough water so your urine is mostly colorless.
