A member asked:

My son had to get 4 stitches on his forehead. so, what are some best practices with respect to caring for his wound to minimize scarring?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Wounds that aren't too deep will heal better. Apply an moisturizing ointment like aquaphor twice a day. Many surgeons don't recommend applying antibiotic ointment prophylactically. After sutures are removed gently massage the wound with aquaphor daily. The wound will continue through different phases for months and if the laceration wasn't very deep or didn't scab badly results should be good
