Not likely although there have been reports of diabetes after very stressful life events. But the best/worst way to wear your pancreas out to to have a high BMI. People with a BMI <25 have less DM, HBP & live longer than those above. The also spend a smaller percentage of their lives disabled by heart disease and renal disease & stroke. Consider fat The choice is up to you.

Chronic pancreatitis can do both and manifests with chronic abdominal pain, diagnosis usually established with imaging studies, such as CT. Not so sure about chronic pain in general.
