It is endo-exocrine : The pancreas is an endocrine gland that secretes insulin. It is an exocrine organ that secretes bicarbonate (sodium bicarbonate) and enzymes. Pancreatitis is inflammation of the organ from a variety of causes including alcohol excess and celiac disease. Diabetes is a problem of carbohydrate metabolism. Primary diabetes is when the pancreas does not secrete Insulin and secondary is when the body resists Insulin effect.
